Art in Public Places 
Committee Openings

NOMINATIONS CLOSE MARCH 1st @ 11:59 p.m.
In light of the new year and the completion of many, successful projects in 2020 by the Art in Public Places Program, the time has come for us to invite new members of the community to become involved!
Please help continue our momentum by nominating yourself, or other individuals, to serve on the Art in Public Places Committee or our various Public Art Selection Panels. ​In the spirit of diversity and inclusion, a goal of the Cultural Council, ​we are ​looking for​ candidates with skills mirroring the innovation ​and vision behind these artworks, who value collaboration ​and can dedicate time and expertise towards the common goal of community development.
The Art in Public Places Committee is comprised of (11) eleven members who may be eligible to serve (2) two 3-year terms. Committee members will Chair art selection panels of public art projects at least once during their service. The Committee is comprised of the following representative seats:
  1. (2) Two Cultural Council Board Member Rep.
  2. Planning District 1 (Urban Core):​ Downtown, Springfield, Brooklyn, Eastside, LaVilla.
  3. Planning District 2 (Greater Arlington):​ North of Beach Blvd to St Johns River.
  4. Planning District 3 (Southeast): ​South of Beach Blvd including Mandarin and Town Center. (Residents of beach
    cities are NOT in District 3)
  5. Planning District 4 (Southwest): ​South of Normandy Blvd, west of St. Johns River.
  6. Planning District 5 (Northwest):​ North of Normandy Blvd and south of Trout River.
  7. Planning District 6 (North): ​North of Trout River and St. Johns River
  8. (3) Three Art Professionals (​one of the following fields​):
    1. Designer: Graphic, Interior, Industrial, etc.
    2. Artist: Any discipline and media, from composer to sculpture
    3. Architect: Buildings or Landscape
    4. Arts Educator: Elementary, Secondary and Higher Education
    5. Art Administrator, Programmer or Curator
Public Art Selection Panels are composed of up to nine (9) members. Members of a Public Art Selection Panel may be eligible to serve through the duration of the public art project which could span one to three years on average. Public Art Selection Panels are comprised of the following representative seats:
  1. (1) One Chair: ​Representing the art in public places committee​.
  2. (1) One Site Representative:​ May be a staff member or Board member of the site where the art will be installed.
  3. (1) One Architect or other Design Professional
  4. (2) Two Art Professionals (​one of the following fields​):
    1. Designer: Graphic, Interior, Industrial, etc.
    2. Artist: Any discipline and media, from composer to sculpture
    3. Architect: Buildings or Landscape
    4. Arts Educator: Elementary, Secondary and Higher Education
    5. Art Administrator, Programmer or Curator.
  5. (1-3) Community Representatives:​ At least one community member must reside in the planning district where the art will be installed.
  6. (1) One Department Representative: ​Selected by the Chief Administrative Officer from the Office of the Mayor. This individual provides subject matter expertise and city process guidance​​.
