Twenty-six Organizations Awarded Cultural Service Grants

Twenty-six Duval County cultural organizations were awarded $2,535,000 in general operating support for fiscal year 2008-2009 through the Cultural Service Grant Program (CSGP). CSGP is funded through the City of Jacksonville and administered by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.

Grant allocations are made based on an organization’s program excellence, fiscal and administrative capability, and community outreach and impact. Applicants must undergo a rigorous application and review process. Funding recommendations, which have been approved by the Cultural Council Board of Directors, were made by the Cultural Service Grant Panel, which is comprised of a diverse group of community representatives, Council board members, and ex-officio representatives from the Mayor’s Office and City Council. Funds are disbursed quarterly to organizations that have met the requirements of their grants.

“With the support of the Mayor’s Office and our City Council we were proud to make cultural grants that will educate, enrich and entertain Jacksonville residents,” said Robert Arleigh White, executive director of the Cultural Council. “In a difficult funding year, our organizations are poised to provide high quality and innovative programs that positively impact Jacksonville’s quality of life and at the same time stimulate economic development.”
