Cultural Council Offering Grants Through Funding from Sale of License Plates

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Applications are now available for the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s License Plate Grant Program, which provides funding for arts and cultural projects in Duval County. Funding is made possible by revenue from the sale of Florida “State of the Arts” license plates in Duval County. The deadline for submissions is February 16, 2007.

Applications will be accepted from all types of nonprofit organizations designated as 501©(3) that operate in Duval County. Grant requests must be for programs or projects that are cultural in nature including: theater, folk arts, historic preservation, dance, literature, arts in education, film, music and visual arts. In order to offer grants to a wider applicant pool, organizations that received Cultural Service Grant funding for fiscal year 2006-2007 may not apply. Schools are not eligible; however, Duval County Public School teachers are encouraged to apply to the Council’s Arts Education Enrichment Grant Program.

Grants of $1,000 will be awarded. For guidelines or an application, please contact the Cultural Council at 358-3600, or visit the Council’s website at www.culturalcouncil.org.
