By: Jacksonville Business Journal The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville is auctioning off 20 footballs painted by local artists and signed by Jaguars players as a way to raise money for grants, events and other purposes.
The idea is the brainchild of Adriel Rocha, a Cultural Council board member who is the Jaguars community relations manager: 20 footballs, dipped in white paint, were given to five local artists to decorate as they saw fit. “Ranging from abstract to realism, each work specifically or figuratively represents our Jaguars team and our City,” said Cultural Council Executive Director Diana Donovan said in a statement. “The ARTS + Sports collaborative partnership showcases Jacksonville's creative economy, igniting a merger of artists and athletes, to bring a fresh perspective to a quality of life we all share, as well as a commitment to serving our city together as a team of equity driven placemakers.” https://www.bizjournals.com/jacksonville/news/2021/05/05/cultural-council-jaguars.html
