The Art of Action: Shaping Vermont’s Future Through Art

Vermont philanthropist and visionary, Lyman Orton, is collaborating with the Vermont Arts Council to commission 2-dimensional works of art that reflect or respond to issues and challenges facing Vermont. The intent is for the project to raise awareness and inspire action that will shape Vermont’s social, political, environmental, and/or economic future. Twenty artists will be selected and given a $2,500 honorarium to present concepts. Ten artists will be commissioned to create work with budgets ranging from $10K – $40K. 2nd Annual Gulf-South Regional Contemporary Art Exhibition

Jacksonville Business Journal Seeking Local Artwork

The Jacksonville Business Journal is seeking original artwork from local artists to be published in their annual Book of Lists, December 2008. Artwork should be paintings or drawings that reflect area landmarks, events, communities or landscapes. The publication is in tabloid format so artwork should be vertical. Selected artwork will appear on the cover and ten other pieces inside the publication. The artist will also be profiled in the book and will receive five copes and have permission to use the book for promotional purposes. The book contains more than 100 lists of area industries and profiles of more than 300 business leaders, and reaches about 90,000 readers. Artists are welcome to submit multiple submissions. Florida’s Art in State Buildings Program announces its Spring 2007 Call to Artists, containing descriptions of several new public art projects with submission deadlines in August and September 2007. With art budgets ranging from $5,000 – $99,000, the various art selection committees are searching for a wide variety of art, from interior artwork to large-scale outdoor pieces.
